We don't often take Bear out with us, but when we do, it's nice to have dog-friendly options. Station Tavern in the South Park area of San Diego is an excellent place to dine with dogs, with most of the restaurant outdoors in an expansive patio.
See that blue sky? It was 80 degrees and gorgeous here in San Diego today... WIN.
With tons of wood-siding and shaped a bit like a tall and skinny two story building with an adjacent carport, the restaurant is on the ground floor with the interior of consisting of a few tables and a bar. There is no back wall and it opens up into a gravel-floored area with several picnic tables with benches, some tables with chairs, and a play area for the kids.
The menu is straightforward, consisting of burgers, drinks, and a kids' menu (please note that the current menu is a little more expansive than the one on the website). My cheeseburger with Swiss cheese was nicely done, with a medium-rare patty on a fresh bun. The sweet potato fries are exceptionally good.
D. and I both ordered our burgers topped with caramelized onions, but our feelings were a bit mixed. D. thought his onions overpowered the burger, whereas I thought mine were flavorless.
It's a great place to bring kids and dogs with good food and drink for the adults. On a perfect day like this, Station Tavern has the ideal setting for a relaxing lunch out with D. and the pup.

Bear is adorable! Station Tavern has been on our list for a while... this past weekend would have perfect for some outdoor dining.
Bear is so cute! I went here recently with kids in tow and I vouch for the excellence of the outdoor dining as well. The tater tots are surprisingly good.
Looks tasty.
